Competition report June

June 2017 Competitions
The month of June has been a very busy one at the club with a full programme of competitions, events and visiting parties.
Everyone has been very complimentary about the condition of our course and we remain very thankful for the hard work put in by the greens staff
Competition Summary
The highlights of the month were our two open competitions. The gents open attracted a field of over 120 and both sections were won with scores of net 68,class A by Ryan Copeland and class B by Mitchell Robb.
Our senior open had an amazing turnout of over 160 and was won by Iain McPherson with the great score of 45 stableford points.
Our club knockout competitions are well over the half way mark and I am delighted to report that all ties have been completed on schedule.
We had an excellent turnout at our Summer meeting, with class A being won by John McGown and class B by Roger Courtenay.
Our June medal had to be rescheduled due to heavy rain but was held a week later with Alastair Gray and Iain Bruce winning their respective classes.
We look forward to an excellent summer at the club and are especially happy to see large numbers of juniors taking part in a very full programme of coaching and competition. Many thanks to our professional Ian Nicholson and the junior convenor Lynda Bradley.

Gent’s Competition Report

May 2017 Competitions

May has been a very busy month at the club with many competitions in all sections and the course in excellent order. A big thank you is due to the greens staff for all their hard work

Competition Summary

The first Saturday competition was the Harbin Trophy which attracted a very large field and was won by Roger Courtenay, giving him his second trophy of the season.

A change of format ensued later in the month with our annual Texas Scramble won by George Bennion, John Morrow and Michael Connelly, a round marked by scoring a 2 at each of the four par 3s.

Our May medal was cancelled on the 13th of the month due to a flooded course but rerun on the 27th, seeing Jim McCullach continue his excellent run of form to win class A, and Iain Bruce emerged as winner in Class B

Though we are just into June we have hosted a very successful AmAm competition with well over a hundred golfers enjoying a beautiful day on a course in absolutely pristine condition on June 2nd. The team led by David Lowing walked away with the honours in a very close fought encounter.

Saturday 3rd June saw the club host the Speirs Trophy, one of the oldest interclub competitions in the history of Scottish Golf with a most impressive trophy presented to the winners, who this year came from Elderslie Golf Club, playing a very high standard of golf on a very testing day.

We look forward to another good month on our beautiful course.
